The Turning Point: Baby Loss and Lived Experience
In 2017, Lucy and her husband Rick experienced the devastating loss of their first baby, Ellie, through Termination for Medical Reasons (TFMR). This profound lived experience revealed the immense challenges faced by those affected by baby loss a journey often marked by loneliness and misunderstanding.
In the weeks leading up to the tragic news, Lucy and Rick had completed a hypnobirthing course, equipping them with tools to bring Ellie into the world. This empowered a different experience amidst heartbreak which inspired them to share these techniques with others enduring similar losses.
Unable to return to her stressful role in crisis mental health services, Lucy began offering specialised support to the baby loss community, ensuring no one navigates this journey alone.
Our Beginnings: Relax With Lucy
Our journey began in 2012 when Lucy & Rick Livesey co-founded a network of physiotherapy clinics in the North West of England. Alongside her work as an NHS mental health nurse, Lucy started a social enterprise focused on supporting individuals facing low-level mental health challenges, such as anxiety and depression.
Using a studio at the physiotherapy clinic in her hometown of Oldham, Lucy launched services under the brand Relax With Lucy. These weekly relaxation, meditation and mindfulness sessions primarily supported working individuals who were struggling but didn’t qualify for NHS mental health services.
The Evolution: Ellie’s Gift CIC
In 2025, the team made the decision to transition from Relax With Lucy & Co CIC to Ellie’s Gift CIC as the organisation had grown into so much more than Lucy’s support. With this transition, Ellie’s Gift CIC were given further funding to employ our very first member of staff and to this present day, continue to grow and strengthen with the new addition of a team of experts who help guide and lead Ellie’s Gift as we move forward in becoming a sustainable organisation.
Upward Growth: Relax With Lucy & Co CIC
In 2019, with support from Action Together, Relax With Lucy & Co CIC was established. As a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) in the UK, operating as a not-for-profit organisation with no shareholders, run by a small but dedicated board.
Founded by Lucy Livesey, a mental health nurse and bereaved mother, Relax With Lucy & Co CIC grew into a beacon of care and compassion for those experiencing baby loss. While our initial focus was supporting individuals with anxiety and depression, our journey led them us to specialise in aiding those navigating the profound complexities of baby loss.
